Juan Leon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with mention in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Educational Theory and Policy and Comparative & International Education at Pennsylvania State University. His areas of interest are inequality in education, intercultural bilingual education, early childhood, testing policies and school effectiveness. Before starting his doctoral studies, he worked for six years as an Assistant Researcher in the Education Area at GRADE (Group for the Analysis of Development), a private research center in Peru. In 2003, one of his research papers was awarded the medal for best research in Education, Knowledge and Technology at the Global Development Network (GDN) annual conference.
